About us

CoHeReNT (Community and Health Research Network) comprisings a group of experts that focus on various social aspects of health. It covers variety of projects related to quality of life and risk behaviours of schol-aged children, youth and adults, social and socio-economic determinants of health as well as broad research of vulnerable groups.

The results of our research include representative, reliable and valid reflection of target populations health status, therefore often used as a base or feedback for policy and other decision-makers. This is evidenced by our long-term cooperation with reputable international and national institutions such as World Health Organization,  European Health Psychology Society,  L'Agència de Salut Pública de Barcelona, University of Groningen, Swiss School of Public Health, University of Southern Denmark, Deakin University Melbourne, University of Copenhagen, University of St. Andrews, Charles University Prague, Masaryk University Brno, Palacký University Olomouc, University of Economics in Bratislava – Faculty of Business Economics Kosice, The Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic, Public Health Authority of the Slovak Republic, Regional Public Health Authority, IUVENTA – Slovak Youth Institute etc.




On the 28th of September 2016 our colleague Jana Holubcikova have been awarded a PhD degree at the University of Groningen. PhD ceremony held in the University of Groningen’s auditorium. The thesis entitled "Eating habits, body image and health and behavioural problems of adolescents: The role of school and family context" was defended in the presence of the College of Deans and the PhD Examining Committee.

Dutch Jitse van Dijk celebrated on Thursday, September 8th 2016  with staff of UPJŠ obtaining the title of Officer of the Order of Orange-of Nassau. He obtained this title by the Netherlands kingdom as its important contribution to solving problems in the public health sector in Central Europe.

Our colleague, Jana Holučíková was invited to be a part of research project at the Masaryk university in Brno, Czech Republic called ThinLine, aiming to map the use of information and communication tachnologies and the internet in the context of eating habits and fitness among young people.

Ústav etnológie SAV zorganizoval 7. júla 2016 v Pálffyho paláci na Zámockej ulici v Bratislave, ako jednu zo sprievodných akcií pri príležitosti 70 rokov od svojho založenia, slávnostnú prezentáciu novej knihy Čierno-biele svety. Rómovia v majoritnej spoločnosti na Slovensku, ktorú zostavili editori Tatiana Podolinská a Tomáš Hrustič a autorsky sa na nej podieľalo 22 expertov z rôznych disciplín zo Slovenska, Českej republiky a Bulharska, venujúci sa výskumu Rómov na Slovensku.
