Health Behavior in School-aged Children (HBSC) is an international study, which was carried out in collaboration with the World Health Organization in 43 countries. It has begun in 1983. Its purpose is to monitor health and health-related behavior of school children in their social context, and also deepen the understanding of the mechanisms influencing differences and changes in health risk behavior among 11 -, 13 - and 15 - year old schoolchildren. These findings are important for the development of effective health promotion programs, education programs about health and for monitoring of their effectiveness, both at national and international level (for more about Slovak HBSC click here).
